For almost four decades, Gary Woolverton has been committed to one central calling: serving God's people by strengthening God's Church.

His ministry journey has included pastoral leadership, executive administration, organizational development, leadership training, consulting, writing, and mentoring. Along the way, he has served churches of various sizes, developed leaders, written practical ministry resources, and helped congregations think intentionally about every aspect of ministry. Each experience has reinforced a lifelong conviction that healthy churches are built through faithful biblical leadership, intentional discipleship, meaningful relationships, and ministries that work together in fulfilling Christ's mission.

Before entering full-time vocational ministry, Gary served in the corporate world with Texas Eastern and Brown & Root, where he gained extensive experience in organizational leadership, personnel development, strategic planning, and administrative management. Rather than leaving those experiences behind, he has seen God faithfully redeem them as valuable preparation for serving the Church. The combination of marketplace leadership and pastoral ministry has provided a unique perspective that continues to shape both his consulting and writing.

That lifelong journey eventually gave rise to Ministry By Design—not as a series of books first, but as a philosophy of ministry. At its heart, Ministry By Design reflects the conviction that every ministry within the local church should intentionally support the overall mission Christ has entrusted to His Church. Over time, that philosophy has found expression through consulting, leadership development, speaking, and the continuing publication of Ministry By Design: The Series.

Today, Gary continues to serve churches through writing, consulting, mentoring, and ministry leadership opportunities. His passion remains unchanged: helping pastors and ministry leaders strengthen their churches through biblical principles, practical wisdom, and thoughtful organizational leadership.

Whether serving alongside a church staff, consulting with ministry leaders, writing new resources, or encouraging pastors through conversation, Gary's desire is simply to invest the experiences and lessons God has entrusted to him for the benefit of Christ's Church.
